Quantum is Expanding Into Digital Art - Press Release
Quantum is expanding to the realms of Digital Art, dropping the first collection, By Proxy, by the award-winning 3D virtual model creator Shavonne Wong and acclaimed fashion photographer Lenne Chai.
Originally known for its fine art photography curation, quantum art is now expanding into the realms of digital art.
PALO ALTO, Calif. Quantum today announced the first Digital Art collection dropping on its curated platform - By Proxy, by the award-winning 3D virtual model creator Shavonne Wong and the acclaimed fashion photographer Lenne Chai. When you think of Quantum, you more than likely think of fine art photography; indeed, this has been the main focus of the NFT curation platform. Quantum has officially announced its expansion into Digital art, a development that has garnered a high level of excitement in the Web3 space.
Since the beginning, Quantum's Co-founder and CEO, Justin Aversano, has stated that his vision for Quantum was beyond what people may imagine; Justin, being a world-renowned photographer, you would think photography is where Quantum would stop. After two successful seasons of photography curation, Quantum has decided to dive even deeper into the ocean of creativity. Rodolphe Ködderitzsch is the general manager and head of curation for this new frontier.
"We want to explore all the different genres, sub-genres, and niches in the Digital and Crypto Art movements, push the boundaries and explore the frontier with Contemporary Art" said Rodolphe Ködderitzsch.
“Whether it's generative art, AI, GAN, pixel art, glitch art, trash art, GIFs, animation, illustration, video, 3D, CGI, AR/VR/XR, above all, we're looking for forward-thinking work that matters culturally, and that promotes representation, empowerment, diversity, and inclusion in society. We are interested in artwork focusing on originality, purpose, execution, and cultural significance. We are deeply committed to promoting underrepresented artists, creators, communities, points of view, and voices. It's at the core of what we do.”
Quantum has had a bold vision since its inception, and this new venture only proves just how bold that vision is - curating the digital culture. It can be challenging to expand beyond what the people know and love you for, but that is not stopping Quantum. It is important to note that Quantum is not moving away from photography but adding to its curatorial expertise.
This first season for Digital Art will be one of the defining moments for Quantum; anytime you expand the art that you curate, all eyes are sure to be on how you will execute it. With that being said, Quantum is confident in its ability to curate the best of the best. Shavonne Wong and Lenne Chai are the first artists onboarded to the Quantum Digital Art space with their project By Proxy, and we have an outstanding lineup of artists that will join them in the coming season.
"Digital art gives me the ability to create new worlds; there's something special about seeing the power of my imagination in the form of art. I am very honored to be a part of the first Quantum Digital Art drop as I believe this will be an iconic launch in the years to come" . Shavonne Wong
By Proxy. In a world where we take hundreds of photos to document our lives and curate our memories, Singaporean artists and adolescent friends Shavonne Wong and Lenne Chai are examining if memories, just like images, can be easily manipulated to fit our desired version of the truth. For this project, Shavonne Wong, an award-winning photographer turned 3D virtual model creator, has collaborated with Lenne Chai, an acclaimed US-based Singaporean fashion photographer to create a series of images depicting an imaginary young girl's transition from girlhood to adolescence, sculpted digitally. This 3D model is an amalgamation of their younger selves, and is inspired by their upbringing in Singapore. Their virtual teenage character hangs out in her bedroom, makes soap bubbles with a friend, takes naps by the sea shore… There is a dream-like quality in the works that underpins an uncanniness to these digitally-crafted realistic pieces. Echoing a larger trend that questions authenticity in the way we represent and document ourselves, this work takes it a step further to consider the subjectivity of memory. If memories, just like images, can be just as easily manipulated to fit our desired version of truth, then what is real and not? By Proxy will drop on Quantum.art on April 13th, at 9am pst.
The next drop for Digital Art will also be a very exciting one - Linda Dounia's Spannungsbogen is a series of AI generated animations which are outputs of a GAN trained with 2,000 abstract acrylic vignettes hand painted by the artist. Inspired by the Fremen of Frank Herbert’s Dune, this project will be the first large scale AI drop by an African woman in the history of crypto art!!! Stay tuned for the full drop announcement.
